That’s quite a statement for me to make, right? It’s true though, and I’m going to tell you why in this issue of Zap as well as what we are doing about it at Enlight!
I think the most fun part of starting a new project is imagining what the end result will be. However, there are so many steps to get there, and it may be especially hard to visualize what a product’s potential is without having a prototype of it first.
Even if you know how to code, it may be difficult even to get to the MVP stage, or you may not even know how to start. Figma is a tool that helps solve this problem by creating a workspace for engineering and design teams to work together and conceptualize eventual products. With Figma, you can quickly design the UI and make your prototype come to life, simulating what the end product will look and feel like.
It’s a great tool, but hard to learn from the start or without some familiarity with design. That is why I am excited to share Enlight’s next cohort: Prototyping with Figma.
In two weeks, you’ll bring a web or mobile app to life by designing your own clickable high-fidelity prototype in Figma. Along the way, we’re going to learn about wireframes, UI design, and prototyping while making use of some of Figma’s amazing tools like components and interactions.
We launch on March 21st. Check it out on enlight.nyc/courses/figma if you want to learn more or sign up today.
People to follow
So last time I promised some recommendations for resources and people to follow if you’re looking to dive into development in React and web development or general, so here it is:
YouTube
DevEd has amazing JavaScript, Node, and React tutorials and projects to do on his channel.
Ben Awad has a ton of frontend tutorials and videos about software development in industry.
Guillermo Rauch tweets about Next.js, a React framework he created as the CEO of Vercel, a cloud platform to host static websites.
Dan Abramov is one of the authors of React and tweets about web dev and UI design.
Amjad Masad is the CEO of Repl.it, the cloud IDE we love using in our web development cohort. He loves talking about shipping projects and making it easier for anyone to learn to code.
What's popping
Have a great rest of your weekend — see you back on Thursday for another Zap ⚡️
